Here's a little story regarding my first job at Dheo
I applied for an internship role at Dheo as their visual experience designer through a Facebook job Ad post back in June 2020. I was a striving student, starting her BBA during that time.
I figured, to apply for such a wonderful position I needed a web portfolio that wasn't ready. 6 hours of building a portfolio site just to enthusiastically apply for the role I knew I was not supposed to get - 1) because I was so young 2) because I had no experience or degrees in this field (i only did a few events at DPS as their lead graphics director, helped two of my close friends with graphics support for their new business, my own experimental start-up - Heydo and was previously an Art & Design student), I still went for it, after all, what's there to lose, and during that time I was actively seeking for work to utilize my time.
I sent an application email along with my very newly curated web portfolio that I made with a lot of hard work - https://lnkd.in/gsEm5BYt
To my surprise, my wonderful employer actually requested an interview in the very next day (fun fact: no one in my family or my friends knew this was actually happening).
I let two of my closest friends know - "so this happened, paid internship, USA based Bangladeshi startup, interview today" and both of them gave mixed reactions, nonetheless I was nervous for this first-time experience of an online interview.
Again, to my surprise, it went well and my interviewer and ex-boss, was an amazing communicator - soon after, I received my letter of employment along with that pay mark and suddenly it all felt real, I was a part of a team of very wonderful and friendly people, my colleagues, from whom I learned so many new things for which I'll always be grateful.
My journey in Dheo was for around 6 months - 3 months as a visual experience designer - intern, then 3 months as a full-time visual experience designer. I still remember my ex-boss quoting, "you built the brand look, the visual identity of Dheo naturals" and it felt amazing to look at it all together - such a special feeling - I built it :')
